DepEd 2023 National Teachers’ Month honors teachers for their crucial contribution to the Philippine educational system for an entire month. Every September, from September 5 to October 5, it takes place. President Benigno Aquino III first established the holiday on August 29, 2011, when he issued Proclamation No. 242. The decree recognized the crucial part that teachers play in fostering a nation.
During the month-long celebration, various activities are held to honor and appreciate teachers. These activities include:
- Giving awards to outstanding teachers
- Holding forums and workshops on teacher development
- Conducting school visits and dialogues with teachers
- Organizing concerts and other cultural events to showcase the talents of teachers
